Privacy Policy

Effective Date: January 23, 2026

The Short Version

We're serious about your privacy. HearMeOut collects minimal data to keep the app working—basically just your location to verify you're near a university and a device identifier so you can connect without logging in. That's it. No names, no emails, no personal info. No recording. Just anonymous voice chat.

What We Collect and How We Use It

HearMeOut collects only the following information:

What We DON'T Collect

We do not collect:

Data Security & Anonymity

Your location data is processed anonymously. We do not link it to any personal identity, and we do not store it longer than necessary to provide the service. All voice conversations are live and not recorded. Once a conversation ends, it's gone forever.

No Third-Party Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. Your location information is used solely for the purpose of connecting you to voice channels and is never shared with advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else.

Infrastructure Provider: We use DigitalOcean for server hosting infrastructure. They provide hosting services only and cannot access or use your data for their own purposes.

Your Rights

Since we collect minimal data and operate anonymously, there's not much personal information to access or delete. However, you can stop using the app at any time, and any temporary location data associated with your session will be automatically removed.

Right to Delete: You can delete your device identifier from our systems directly through the app's settings. This action is immediate and will remove all stored data associated with your device.

Note on Banned Devices: If your device has been banned for violating our Terms of Service, the device identifier will remain in our system to enforce the ban. You may contact us to appeal a ban or request more information about why your device was restricted.

Children's Privacy

HearMeOut is only for users 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with information, we will take steps to delete such information from our systems.
